Dr Shanahan graduated from University College Dublin in 2003 with an honours degree (MBBChBAO) and an additional Batchelor in Medical Science (Public Health). She completed the North East General Practitioner training scheme in 2007 following hospital posts in Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine and Psychiatry and was awarded Membership of Irish College of General Practitioners.
She worked in the John Street surgery from 2007 until 2009 as a GP assistant and returned in 2014 following time away in Counties Clare and Cork where she worked full time in General Practice.
Additional post graduate qualifications include Diploma from Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Certificate in Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC).
Dr Shanahan enjoys all aspects of General Practice but within the practice has a particular interest in General Medicine, Medicolegal work and Women’s health (including LARC and menopause health).
